Join more than 100 ASMBS members who have obtained Focused Practice Designation (FPD) in metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ASMBS Weekend meeting in San Antonio will feature a comprehensive preparatory review course designed to enhance the understanding of high-yield topics in metabolic and bariatric surgery.

In addition to expanding the existing knowledge of obesity and its treatments, the course will also prepare attendees to succeed on the ABS – FPD examination. The course agenda is structured in 24 concise yet in-depth lectures plus a high-yield pearls review session, delivered over the span of 9 hours by a variety of leading content experts and surgical educators.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Maintain a current understanding of essential concepts in MBS.
  2. Stay up to date with the evolving evidence of the etiology and pathophysiology of obesity.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the medical and surgical management of obesity.
  4. Review the best practices in the intra-operative and peri-operative care of MBS patients.
  5. Show comprehension of concepts in patient selection and indications/contra-indications.
  6. Confirm improved knowledge of algorithms for management of short and long-term complications.
  7. Reinforce existing awareness of the impact of MBS on associated conditions, overall health, and longevity.
