Biography
Dr. Moore was a member of the ASMBS Executive Council from 2016-2019. She is the founding President of the Louisiana chapter of ASMBS and also the past President (2021-2022) of the Louisiana chapter of the American College of Surgeons. She has twenty years of high-volume bariatric surgery experience, but approaches obesity as a chronic disease and uses many treatments, including medications and endoscopic therapies, in addition to laparoscopic bariatric surgeries like sleeve, Roux-y gastric bypass and duodenal switch. She has a special interest in the emerging field of bariatric endoscopy and offers intragastric balloon and endoscopic suturing among the treatment options in her practice. Dr. Moore is the principle investigator for several FDA trials on endoscopic devices and is a board member for the Surgical Disruptive Technology Summit. She resides in New Orleans with her husband, bariatric surgeon Michael Thomas, and their three children ages 16, 13 and 11.
