Biography
Dr. Adrian Dan is a native of Northeast Ohio and graduated from Youngstown State University and Northeast Ohio Medical University for his medical degree. Following general surgery residency at Michigan State University in East Lansing, he completed a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Since 2006, Dr. Dan has been a practicing bariatric surgeon at Akron City Hospital – Summa Health System, a designated MBSAQIP center for bariatric surgery. He is the medical director of the Summa’s Weight Management Institute and the director of the Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery fellowship program. He has performed over 3,000 bariatric operations. Dr. Dan is served as the president of the Ohio and Kentucky chapter of the ASMBS (2017-2019) and on several ASMBS national committes over the last 13 years including the access to care, surgical training, public education and surgical video committees. In 2016, he was the editor of the Surgical Clinics of North America edition entitled "Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery". He is the executive director and founder of the National Surgery Review, and entity that helps graduating and practicing surgeon review the principles of surgery as they prepare for the American Board of Surgery examinations. His specific professional interests include clinical metabolic surgery research and surgical education.
